You can still feel the excitement in the air! You can still see the enthusiasm in the crowd!
There were standing ovations! There were hundreds of applause's! The First Anniversary of
Perfecting Christian Fellowship on Sunday, April 15, 2007 - 5:00 PM was an event beyond
belief. An audience of approximately 200 guests attended the church's first anniversary
service.
Perfecting Christian Fellowship is one of God's new grass roots churches in the Los Angeles area. The Pastor is the electrifying
Lester Barrie who has seen fame in many arenas. Many of his audiences know him from his success in the Comedy arena. He has performed on BET, Laugh Factory and other major comedy venues. Pastor Lester Barrie is no stranger to the stage. Also, the audience can hear his inspirational words on KJLH on Sunday afternoons with the Praise Patrol and Bible Jeopardy too.
The young church has dedicated members to assist in every area of the church's growth.
There are people like Brenda Stewart who shows her creative genius in the cooking area for all events including Bible Study, Christian Movie Night, Church Picnic, and other events for Perfecting Christian Fellowship. Also, there is Theresa Scott who takes care of all finances. Let me not forget Qiana Barner who devotes her energies to the youth of the church. Pastor Lester Barrie's son, River Jordan Barrie does assist in Bible Studies and helping other young people in the church. The music direction comes from our music leader, John Thomas and his wife, Tessa Thomas. Rosetta Bey brings many talents to assisting the Pastor with his outside Christian events, comedy, and other church venues. Many of the members of the church help out with each event on a weekly basis.
The first anniversary brought together a praise dancer, DA'. Also, there was an outstanding sermon by the Pastor C D LeGrande from Great Hope Fellowship of Faith Church in Los Angeles, California. One of the pastors for this church for the past 17 years. His message was surrounded by the theme, "Still Here" - I Corinthians 15:58. A message which gave the membership of Perfecting Christian Fellowship - 6 new members to their church membership. The Praise and Worship Team was the dynamic Double Rock Baptist Church of Compton, California. Everybody in the audience stood to their feet as they sang many worship songs to inspire your heart and soul. The Master of Ceremonies was a familiar face of television, movies and commercials, Mark Christopher Lawrence. Other notable guests in the audience was one of his mentors in the Ministry, Dr. Joseph L Holmes. There were words of expression from Nona and Plusceda Williams
Pastor Lester Barrie gave out single stem roses to his board members. Another recognition were the awards given out to the "Man of The Year" and "Woman of The Year". The members of Perfecting Christian Fellowship's Board voted unanimously to select, our musical leader, John Thomas as "Man of The Year" and the Pastor's Executive Assistant, Esther Joseph as the "Woman of the Year".
One of the highlights of the evening was to see the original worship team come together one more time from Perfecting Christian Fellowship where they started in April of 2006. Their favorite worship song was sang "I Just Want To Praise Him Forever and Ever".
An evening of celebration and a vision for Perfecting Christian Fellowship gave the audience more to look forward to in the years to come. .
